Short Story Competition: Winning Entry

After we finished our walking tour in Kerry, my wife and I stayed in a B&B in Cork before we flew home. In the evening, we asked the lady of the B&B for somewhere really good to eat. She said to us to go to a French restaurant nearby. My wife was in Strasbourg when she was at university so this was a good option for us. We had a very beautiful evening, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very romantic. In the end we were the last people in the restaurant. Before we go, we asked to say thank you to the chef. When the chef came out from the kitchen, my wife really got a big shock. This was a French woman – an old friend from her university days in Strasbourg! So we took another bottle of wine and had very much ‘craic’! The perfect experience to end our time in Ireland.

Short Story Competition: 2nd prize

Our most beautiful moment was in Dick Mack’s pub in Dingle. This must be the most crazy place in Ireland. It is a shop that sells shoes but also a pub that sells Guinness! There are shoes on one side and the drinks on the other. We did not buy any shoes but we had enough Guinness!
